WAX MUSEUM

Students in third grade on tracks B and C will be doing a biography wax museum on May 1st. Students will be required to write a report on a famous person. They will dress up as that person and pretend to be them at the wax museum. More information will be coming about wax museum specifics as the event date gets closer.
Students need to select a famous person by this Friday, April 10th. We ask that they choose someone that is not in pop culture today, but someone who has made a difference in their field. A list of suggestions was sent home. The blue paper that was sent home is for students to write their first, second and third choice for whom they would like to write about. They will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. There will not be duplicates in each class.

Students will be writing their biographies at school, but some help may be needed at home to find a book or an article about the person they choose. Our school library has many biographies that students can check out and use. Students need to have a book or article in class by Monday, April 13th, whether it is checked out from school or a book from home.

Manner's Day

On Friday, February 13th the third grade will be having their annual Valentine’s Manners’ Day.  This is a day where students can dress up in skirts, dresses, dress pants etc. and learn about what good manners entail.  We will be eating lunch in our classrooms and learning some fun line dances.  Students are also invited to bring valentines to pass out to their classmates. If your student chooses to bring valentines to school, please ensure that he/she brings one for each student in his/her class.  There are 24 students in each class.  We will be making containers in class to hold valentines that are passed out.  This is not an activity where students should feel that they need to buy anything.  Valentine cards are optional and students are not required to dress up.  Please contact us with any questions!

Word Parade

We will be doing a word parade in conjunction with the Halloween parade. Each student will need to find an adjective that describes their costume.  There is a place on the paper that came home for students to write their word, the definition and a sentence with their word in it. The purpose is for the third grade to be introduced to new words.  Students should choose a word that is not used in everyday use. For example instead of using the word pretty, a student might use the word glamorous.  We will be making signs for the students to wear on Wednesday, so the planning page needs to be brought back to school by then. Students will wear their sign with the Halloween costume during the parade.  Students will have the opportunity to share their word and what it means with their class.

Paris Basket

Each class is responsible to put together a basket for the silent auction that will take place during the 5K. Natasha Woodside is putting that together for us. The theme is Paris.  Anything that you can donate for the basket would be appreciated. Students can bring the items to school and give them to me or Madame Louk. We would like as many of the items as we can get by this Friday before we go off track. The 5K is only a few days after we track back on in September. If you are unable to get the items to school before Friday but would still like to donate, please give the items to the office with a note that they are for the 3rd grade French Immersion basket and include Natasha's name. Thanks!
